Embark on a Whale Watching Cruise at Wilsons Promontory, where the giants of the ocean take centre stage. Most whale watching means a long trip out to open water. Ours is different. Departing from Tidal River — deep inside Wilsons Promontory National Park — we drop you straight onto the southern coast's migratory highway, where Humpback and Southern Right Whales travel in winter numbers that are hard to find anywhere else in Victoria. In previous seasons, we've encountered whales on around 90% of our departures. We won't promise what wild animals will do, but we know these waters intimately, and we use that knowledge to find and follow them with the care they deserve. Breaches, tail slaps, close passes — when it happens, it's the kind of thing that stays with you. En route, we visit Kanowna Island, home to a thriving Australian Fur Seal colony — and a seal sighting is something we can promise. These animals are a show in themselves: noisy, chaotic, unbothered. If time permits, we'll push south to South Point, the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, and take in the Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse — standing since 1859, still impossible to ignore. Dress warmly for the cruise. The cruise is suitable for pregnant women as the boat is custom built to be as stable as possible. However, please take into account the weather conditions on the day, as this may affect comfort levels for someone who is heavily pregnant.
